The Terres Rouges: Focus on… Luxembourg’s south
16 Ιανουαρίου 2023
Cradle of Luxembourg's industrial heritage, the SOUTHERN region of the Grand Duchy is undergoing profound change. Impressive cultural offer, a new campus of the University of Luxembourg (UNI), privileged territory for new technologies companies … so many elements that attract a young population in search of a living environment in constant movement.
Although it barely occupies a sixth of the national territory, the southern region has all that is required. The outsider of the capital keeps gaining points for failing to gain ground. From Pétange to Frisange and Esch-sur-Alzette to Leudelange, the Terres Rouges never cease to surprise and attract. As a result, living in the South is now an assumed choice.
With a shopping town centre, efficient public transport, dynamic real estate market, Esch-sur-Alzette offers its 36,000 inhabitants all the amenities and infrastructure to facilitate their daily life. The 2022 Capital of Culture is also a major party venue attracting hundreds of thousands of people to its events each year.
Esch is also a development hub that has transformed its former industrial wastelands into various high-performance economic sites, starting with the Esch-Belval district, where the University of Luxembourg is located.
Bettembourg, Roeser, Frisange… the peaceful onesWelcome to the east… of the southern region. Located opposite the big cities, peaceful and welcoming villages offer another vision of life south of Luxembourg. Here, the countryside stops at the main roads linking Esch and Luxembourg. From green to the city, there is only one step.
Small schools, local shops, and transit areas used by French cross-border workers. Roeser, Dudelange, and Frisange benefit from a strategic location allowing easy access to Luxembourg city.
Differdange, Pétange, Bascharage… the wagonsThey are often upstaged by their big sister "Esch-sur-Alzette" and yet it would be a shame not to take stock of their strengths. Pétange, strong>Bascharage, Sanem… are cities to live in. Here, neighborhood life takes on its full meaning. Outdoor swimming pools, places of culture, and performance halls abound.
But the far east of the Terres Rouges also has many craft areas that provide employment: Bommelscheuer, Hahneboesch, Gadderscheier, Um Woeller… A beautiful tribute to those who marked the working history of this territory.
