Focus on the East of Luxembourg

3 de enero de 2023

Adjacent to Germany, the eastern region of Luxembourg stretches from Beaufort to Schengen. Between wild nature and vineyards as far as the eye can see, it offers to those who travel through it the choice between sport or gastronomy and to those who live there an exceptional living environment far from the tumult of big cities.

History, wine, sports... welcome to the Eastern region

Even the locals will tell you, it's hard to get tired of these grandiose landscapes. Living there is like being on vacation. You just have to put on your walking shoes and you will be intoxicated by nature. And after the effort? Comfort, of course! The region has many good restaurants where the food and wine pairing puts everyone in agreement.

A walk in the heart of the Moselle and Mullerthal

The Luxembourg Moselle

42 km of vineyards, a journey to be made on foot, by car or by bike to reach Grevenmacher from Schengen. Would you like to do a little tasting? Many winegrowers welcome you for a tasting. Make a stop in Remich, Wellenstein, Bech-Kleinmacher or Mertert, Stadtbredimus... these villages have a strong wine culture.

But the Luxembourg Moselle is also a land of history. For it is in the heart of the country of the 3 borders that the Schengen Agreement was signed on June 14, 1985. And it is in Schengen that the European Museum was inaugurated in 2010, which traces the evolution of Europe. But along the Moselle, Remich is the most attractive city. Restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlors, miniature golf courses, an open-air swimming pool and cruise departures... in the summer, the town nicknamed "Pearl of the Moselle" is a meeting place for local and foreign tourists alike..

The Mullerthal

Let's go up to Consdorf. Here you are in the heart of the Mullerthal (Mëllerdall) in the heart of Luxembourg's Little Switzerland. A walk here is the promise of a unique experience. Caves, climbing spots, ladders to climb, rocks overhanging the forest... the Mullerthal is internationally known for its exceptional walks.

Further east is Echternach, a town of human size offering a peaceful living environment. In the summer, its lake is the place where local families and festival-goers gather for the e-lake festival. A little further down, here is Rosport, a village which shelters the spring of the same name.

If some villages away from the main roads can cool down the most anxious to return, others benefit from a fast access to the A1 or the A13.
