The tram arrives in the Luxembourg capital.
The tram was officially opened to the general public this weekend.
You can now travel by tram between Luxexpo and Le Pont Rouge (the Red Bridge) (Pafendall). To avoid traffic jams, take this new means of transport to cross over the long plateau of Kirchberg.
You can travel 4.6 kilometers in 8 stations.
The last stop of the tram is located at the Pont Rouge. You can switch to another means of transport via different interchange stations: The Cloche d’Or with its large car park, Howald, the Central Station, Pafendall with its cable cars and finally the Luxexpo car park.
The work is not finished. In fact, by the early 2020s, the tram route will extend up to the city center, to Leudelange as well as to the Findel airport.
As for schedules, whether you are an early bird or a night-owl you will be able to use it. On weekdays, it will operate from 4:42 to 00:00 with a higher frequency between 6:30 and 19:30 (for example: a tram every 6 minutes). On weekends schedules will be less sustained with a pace of every 15 minutes on Sundays and every 10 minutes on Saturdays during the day.
The tram has the capacity of transporting up to 10,000 passengers per hour in a round trip
This transport project will undoubtedly have an impact on the real estate business of the Kirchberg plateau and we will be able to see a hike in housing prices.
