Luxembourg has about 6,000 students, and 70% of them are residing in the Grand Duchy.

The remaining 1,800 foreign students can be accommodated by the University, but currently there are fewer places in university residences: 1,009 were available during the last school year.

In the near future, the University intends to provide 141 more units in order to offer 1,150 housing units for its students. It considers that, given the number of resident students and border dwellers who can live in their country of residence, the offer will be sufficient to meet the needs of foreign students who come from farther away.

But in its calculations, has the University taken into account the students coming from the North for example and who are studying at the University of Esch-sur-Alzette? Even if they are Luxembourg residents, the drive would be long to do every day.
