In the December edition of its monthly "Conjoncture Flash" publication, the STATEC notes a growth of nearly 4% between 2016 and 2017 in the Luxembourg GDP, and growth in the building sector in the Grand Duchy.

In fact, the whole Euro zone is turning around in terms of new buildings, led by France where property prices, planning permissions and building site undertakings are increasingly favourable.

Concerning Luxembourg, the sales revenue of building companies has been increasing since 2015. On the adjacent graph (source: STATEC), the large difference between then end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 is linked to the increase in VAT which was applied from the 1st of January 2015 and which increased the sales revenue of the last trimester of 2014.
