Kirchberg Luxembourg: many changes to come
18 августа 2017 г.
Kirchberg quarter is one of the most occupied quarters by workers in Luxembourg on a daily basis. But when it is not week days, life there is rather calm. Indeed there is 1 resident for every 5 employees, which makes it a rather professional neighborhood than a residential one.
Fonds du Kirchberg (Kirchberg Fund) presents two ongoing projects on its website that aim to provide more housing units in the heart of the business district:
Nearly 500 housing units are planned in the Reimerwee district.
And a little more than 800 housing units are expected in the Kiem district with the construction of 11 new buildings.
To accommodate these new residents, and also new workers who are constantly arriving with the continuous expansion of the grounds of professional premises, Kirchberg has already planned its tramway, which will be put in service from December and which will serve several stops along the J. F. Kennedy Avenue.
Bike paths on either side of the avenue will also be created, separated from the road by a strip of grass. Turf will also be placed on the tram lines to bring a nice touch of greenery to this large alley.
Other projects are still being reviewed, particularly the construction of the Plateau Op des Schleed which could accommodate housing units for 15,000 people. And others are already planned, such as the construction of the new building for the European Commission or the construction of the new covered parking lot near the Serra roundabout.
