Property in Luxembourg: making social housing a priority

20 января 2017 г.

The Luxembourg Government intends to take drastic action in property development in Luxembourg, and to do so aiming at affordable prices even for large families.

To this end a project is under way for the creation of hundreds of homes, among which social housing. The building-housing service is currently working on a hundred of these projects in order to carry out a maximum of them as soon as possible.

In Kirchberg, 7 buildings destined to social housing are taking shape and will be accessible in January 2018. Their particular features are the following: size, location, and energy class. Indeed, their 3 to 5 bedrooms and 130 to 200 m² enable them to accommodate large families. It is a nice area and the AB energy classes provide maximum comfort to their residents. This is therefore very far from the cliché of small, dilapidated social housing. The overall budget of this project amounts to 4.7 million euros.

It will still take time and energy to make Luxembourg accessible and more developed in social housing. But it must be recognised that the Government seems to be taking the matter seriously and evidently wants to change things.
